Ribbon Cutting in Beattyville, June 20, 2021

The Kentucky Riverkeeper “soft” paddle and Kentucky River Water Trail Ribbon Cutting took place  in late June.  We were stationed in the field by the river behind Jack’s IGA! The event started at 12:00 noon for the paddle and was followed with a  2:00 pm. ribbon cutting, and cook out. We welcomed more than 25 paddlers who were finishing a 25 mile run from the headwaters--know as the "long haulers."

Our special guests included David Brown Kinloch with the Appalachian Soft Energy Hydo, David Hamilton and Sue Northern from the Kentucky River Authority, D. Brandenburgh from Lee County Tourism, Kentucky Riverkeeper Board Members, other Lee Co. officials, and several new friends of the Riverkeeepr.  It was an opportunity to celebrate the Kentucky River Water Trail!!!
